Hello everyone, how are you? Today’s tip is a super cute and beautiful dress inspired by Shein.
To create the pattern, I lowered the neckline by 13 cm, which worked well, but you can adjust it if you prefer a higher or lower neckline. I took 2 cm off the shoulder at the start and at the end. I adjusted the neckline by 1.5 cm, raised the waistline by 3 cm, and created a new one since, after checking some models on the site, I noticed that the waistline was higher.
I finished and adjusted the neckline, transferring it to the waist dart, and moved the bust dart to the waist dart as well. I added 1 cm of ease at the armhole and 4 cm at the waist to allow for adjustments. For the skirt, I used the same waist measurement as the blouse. At the hem, I extended it by 17 cm and raised it by 2 cm to avoid any uneven edges.
For the slit, I cut the skirt piece and mirrored it onto another sheet to mark the slit. I placed the slit at the center of the waist on the left side, as this will create a more balanced look when gathered. If you prefer, you can position it according to your bust distance.
I cut out the slit part and marked its height, which is optional based on preference.
For the back pattern, I lowered the neckline by 2 cm and made the same 2 cm adjustments at the shoulder as the front. Like the front, I raised the waistline by 3 cm to create the new waistline.
I cut the back pattern, added 1 cm of ease at the armhole, and matched the waistline of the blouse to the total waist measurement of the front. I did the same for the skirt, matching the waist measurement and extending the hem by 17 cm, raising it by 2 cm to make the necessary adjustments.
For the ruffle detail at the armhole, I used the sleeve base, marking a height of 5 cm.
I cut and traced vertical lines, then spread them apart to create a gathered effect, leaving a 3 cm opening between each line. Remember to adjust at the sleeve cap.
Here’s the test result of the pattern in size 38 below.
