Wide-Leg Pants Pattern with Elastic Waistband

Hello everyone, how are you? Today’s tip is a pair of wide-leg pants with an elastic waistband, inspired by Shein.

To create the pattern, I extended the hip line by 1.5 cm and drew a perpendicular line through this measurement, from the waist to the hem. I lowered the crotch by 1 cm and extended it outward by 1 cm, squaring this measurement down to the hem. Then, I redrew the new waistline and hem.

For the pattern, I extended the hip line by 1.5 cm and drew a perpendicular line between the waist and hem using this measurement. For the crotch, I lowered it by 1 cm and extended it by 1 cm, squaring this line down to the hem. I then traced the new waistline. Ensure the side seam measurements are the same as the front.

I cut out the pattern and marked the slit height—this is optional, but I recommend placing it around knee height.

I added the front and back waistband measurements together.

I took a piece of paper, folded it, and marked the waistband width and height (I chose 4 cm in height).

This is an option for a high-waisted waistband.

If you prefer a mid-rise waistband, divide the waistband height in half, with one half above the waistline and the other half below.

Another option is to cut the waistband at the desired height from the base, recut, eliminate, and recalculate the waistband measurements before making the final adjustments.
