Hello everyone, how are you? Today’s tip is the pattern of a Shein-inspired blouse, where I made a video and used a base with a bust dart.
To create the pattern, I lowered the neckline by 1.5 cm, adjusted the shoulder by taking in 1.5 cm at the beginning and 2 cm at the end, and lowered the armhole by 1.5 cm. I added 1 cm to the front waist since my waist dart is 2 cm wide. I added this 1 cm to balance with the back pattern, where the waist dart is 3 cm wide. I also raised the waist by 1 cm because the model images I saw have a slightly higher waistline. I kept the ruffled layer at a height of 14 cm. I adjusted the armhole by 1 cm since I used a size P base.
I closed the adjustment and transferred it to the bust dart, but the waist dart will not be sewn; instead, it will be used as ease.
I lowered the bust dart by 1.5 cm by tracing a line and moving it 1.5 cm below the dart so it’s not too close to the armhole.
I then removed the dart from the overlap position.
For the back, I adjusted the shoulder by taking in 1.5 cm at the beginning and 2 cm at the end. I lowered the neckline by 1.5 cm and also lowered the armhole by 1.5 cm. My base requires a 1.5 cm armhole adjustment. I raised the waist by 1 cm and kept the ruffled layer at 14 cm. The waist dart will also be used as ease.
After the adjustment, I corrected the back center.
For the ruffle, I increased the waist measurement by 50% to gather it, or you can add 50% to the total waist circumference and cut it directly on the fabric if you don’t want side seams.
This was the final result of the pattern. I used 75% for gathering at the waist, but I found that to be too much, so I recommend using 50%.
I hope this tip was helpful, and see you in the next post!
