Hello everyone, how’s it going? Today’s tip is a Shein-inspired blouse with an asymmetrical collar.
On the front base pattern, I brought the shoulder in by 3 cm at the start and 2.5 cm at the end. For the neckline, I squared off 11.5 cm from where I took in 3 cm at the shoulder, which is modest – you can increase this if you like. From the 11.5 cm mark, I added 6.5 cm to shape the collar detail, spacing it 2.5 cm from the center front. The 11.5 cm measurement also marks 6.5 cm for the collar on the center front.
On the armhole, I lowered by 1.5 cm and added 1 cm for ease, and the waist dart will also serve as ease. I raised the hem by 1 cm to adjust.
I cut the pattern and added a 5 cm spacing, divided into two 2.5 cm sections for the button placket. For the armhole adjustment, I moved the dart down 1.5 cm and transferred the dart along that line.
I closed the dart and transferred it to the line 1.5 cm below. I folded the button placket to see how it would appear on the pattern, and moved the bust dart out of the placket position.
On the back pattern, I lowered the neckline by 3 cm, brought the shoulder in by 3 cm at the start and 2.5 cm at the end, lowered the armhole by 1.5 cm, and added 1 cm for ease. My base pattern needs an additional 1.5 cm adjustment under the shoulder for the armhole.
I adjusted the center back and the section where I made the alteration.
For finishing, you can use a facing on the front and bias binding on the back.
Hope this tip helps, and see you in the next post!
