Hello everyone, how are you? Today’s tip is a super cute and easy-to-make cropped top.
To create this cropped top, it’s essential to adjust the armhole. If you don’t, it won’t fit well—it will be too loose and look sloppy. I prefer it snug rather than loose, as shown in the store image.
Remember to transfer the adjustment to the bust dart.
From the apex of the dart, I drew a straight line.
Next, I lowered the neckline by 1.5 cm. After testing the neckline height, I found that 1.5 cm worked best for me based on my pattern. I squared this measurement to the line drawn from the dart apex to the shoulder. I dropped 6.5 cm and drew the pattern, making it less rounded than the store image, and gave it a 1.5 cm adjustment.
Here’s how my neckline looked after lowering it by 1.5 cm.
I tested it in Clo3D, and it matched the height of the inspiration image.
In my case, I removed the bust dart, but since the interpreted model has one, I kept it.
For the back, I lowered the armhole by 2 cm and adjusted the pattern. I also took in 1 cm on each side.
I cut out the pattern.
I combined the pattern pieces since it doesn’t have a separate cutout and made sure everything was aligned. I prefer the zipper at the center back, but in the image, it’s placed on the side.
