Hello everyone, how are you? Today’s tip is a Shein-inspired American armhole blouse. At the end of the post, download the FREE SIZE 36 pattern.
To create the pattern, I lowered the neckline by 1.5 cm and took in 1.5 cm at the shoulder, drawing the new neckline. I marked 2 cm and connected it to the bust dart point. I also created the new armhole and made an adjustment of 2.5 cm for size 36. Make sure to measure your body against your pattern base. I left the waist dart as extra ease.
I cut the pattern and made sure to mark the shoulder measurement for the strap during sewing. I transferred the bust dart and adjustments to the line I drew up to the bust dart point. At the waist, I allowed an extra 3 cm and increased the hemline by 1 cm at the hip, raising the hemline by 1 cm to level it.
Use the dart as a pleat, adjust the armhole, and refine the side seam.
Mark the pleat notch, fabric grain direction, and fold line.
At the back, I lowered the neckline by 1.5 cm and took in 1.5 cm at the shoulder, drawing the new neckline. I took in 1 cm and marked the keyhole opening, making it 14 cm high. I designed the new armhole and left the dart as extra ease.
Remember to mark the back shoulder measurement to create the strap.
At the waist, I added 3 cm of ease, just like at the front, and at the hip, I added 1 cm and raised the hemline by 1 cm to finish.
The patterns are now ready.
Take the measurements from the front and back necklines to mark the strap for sewing.
For the strap, I made it 4 cm in height by 64 cm in width and marked the front and back neckline measurements along with the front and back shoulder measurements.
